The British Pantry Ltd. is a British style bakery, grocery and gift shop with a full service restaurant called “Neville’s at The British Pantry.” In 2001 they will celebrate their 23rd anniversary in the same location, having expanded four times since opening in 1978. The business is owned and operated by the Redman family, (Fred, Mavis, Neville and Alvia) with the baking expertise of three generations. Mavis’s family, the Richardson’s were bakers in England, where she learned her craft working at her fathers side at their bakery in Swinton, near Manchester. Mavis’s son Neville and daughter Alvia have both worked in the business since it opened, learning the traditional baking skills required to carry on the family tradition of authentic British baking. Although they cannot claim a Royal Charter, they have provided traditional British fare to Prince Charles on his return flight from Japan and to Prince Philip on his visit to NW Trek.
